The E4D Technology

E4D Technologies partnered with Planmeca, a global leader in dental technology, to create the E4D Systems. Together they create the best digital solutions for dental health with a wide range of dental units, including 2 and 3D imaging devices and software. Because of this technology, the dental restorative process has been greatly improved to give patients a faster, better, more positive experience. The dentist uses the E4D system that employs computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) technology to digitally design and fabricate dental crowns and other ceramic restorations directly in-office. By applying CAD-CAM technology to dentistry, a process that otherwise takes weeks, is reduced to 1-2 hours. E4D Systems delivers precision and quality to dentists allowing them to provide patients with perfect fitting crowns in single dentist visit.

What to Expect

Traditionally, a dental crown has required two office appointments involving numbing injections, and messy molds of the mouth. During the dentist visit, patients will receive a numbing anesthetic, and the tooth will be cleaned and prepared for restoration. During this process, with use of a drill, decayed material and other debris is removed; in some cases, a small amount of healthy tooth structure may also be removed to accommodate the crown. Because the E4D system is equipped to take digital impressions, no uncomfortable molds are needed. This is a great benefit for patients because dental impressions can be uncomfortable and taste bad. Instead, the digital impression of the tooth is then transferred to the on-site milling machine, where the new crown is created from a single block of color-matched porcelain. The final stage of this process is ensuring a proper fit and coloration of the crown. It will then be glazed and polished and bonded to the remaining two. Patients leave our office with a restored and balanced bite that looks and feels completely natural.

Estimated Cost

The cost of the E4D system varies, depending on the procedure being performed. The pricing of the procedure will be discussed in detail during the treatment consultation. Procedures that use our in-house CAD/CAM technology do not cost more because of the technology used. This is a great benefit to the patient. In addition, it provides a more thorough, efficient and comfortable dental visit.

E4D Systems FAQs

E4D vs Traditional Methods?

Most procedures performed via the E4D process will be completed much sooner than traditional procedures because of the advanced technology the E4D System provides. Most patients may also experience less pain and complications from the procedure.

Single-Visit Procedure?

Not all procedures will be performed under a single visit. However, most patients will experience same-day restoration procedures. The dentist will be able to determine whether the patient is fit for same-day procedures during a consultation exam.

Covered by Insurance?

Each dental insurance company’s coverage policy is different for each patient. Coverage will vary on particular restorative and cosmetic needs. Patients will work with our billing coordinator to contact their insurance provider so that a full understanding of their dental coverage can be explained. All out-of-pocket expenses will be discussed during the treatment consultation.
